Standing, Walking – 18 months

Continuing to build upon the developmental movement patterns we work with more articulated physical exercises and include more work with balance, falling, standing, and increased body and spatial awareness. Language is encouraged through activities that emphasize basic vocal sounds, song, and rhythmic games. Children socialize more with one another and gain independence from the caregivers in playful activities that encourage cognitive thinking, sequencing, timing, and more. Movement qualities are explored with weight, time, space, and flow. Yoga work begins to include more supported balancing poses as well as negative space and imitation.
